The Welcome
You’ve likely heard that first impressions are everything and it’s no different when you travel. Think about the feeling you get when you visit your favorite hotel–what scent is floating through the air? What sounds are you hearing? Try creating a similar sensory experience in your home. Greet your guests with a good scent by lighting your favorite candle or welcome them with a seasonal melody by powering on your favorite holiday playlist.
And don’t forget about the food and beverage. After a long day of travel, it’s always nice to wine down with a good drink and small treat. If your guests are arriving in the morning, offer them coffee with pastries when they arrive or if it’s the evening, serve wine with a charcuterie board.
The Sleeping Space
Don’t let the sweet greeting stop at your home’s entrance. Set out a small basket in the guest room or sleeping area filled with small touches like room spray, a good book, their favorite snack, and a bottle of water. Top it off with a hand-written welcome note expressing your excitement for their visit.
