Thanksgiving and Christmas are weeks away. This means it’s a matter of time before our families and loved ones descend upon our homes to celebrate the season. If you’re welcoming family and friends overnight, here are a few ways you can offer your guests a unique and hospitable experience.
You’ve likely heard that first impressions are everything and it’s no different when you travel. Think about the feeling you get when you visit your favorite hotel–what scent is floating through the air? What sounds are you hearing? Try creating a similar sensory experience in your home. Greet your guests with a good scent by lighting your favorite candle or welcome them with a seasonal melody by powering on your favorite holiday playlist.
And don’t forget about the food and beverage. After a long day of travel, it’s always nice to wine down with a good drink and small treat. If your guests are arriving in the morning, offer them coffee with pastries when they arrive or if it’s the evening, serve wine with a charcuterie board.
The Sleeping Space
Don’t let the sweet greeting stop at your home’s entrance. Set out a small basket in the guest room or sleeping area filled with small touches like room spray, a good book, their favorite snack, and a bottle of water. Top it off with a hand-written welcome note expressing your excitement for their visit.
If you want to turn your hosting chops up a notch, add a few other items to the space that mimic a hotel. Our favorite things to include are a luggage stand, a robe with matching slippers and sparkling water.
Finally, give a little love to the bathroom they’ll be using by adding your favorite body wash and body lotion combination and a plush bath towel with a matching washcloth or loofah. Include a special touch by putting shower steamers in the space that your guests can use each day. Thulisa Naturals sells our favorite shower steamers, particularly the eucalyptus scent which is a refreshing way to wake up your body in the morning.
As the holiday countdown continues, we hope these ideas help you offer your guests a unique stay and hospitable experience at your home.
